Meet The Candidates

Joe Grieco

Penn-Ohio BOD

Joe Grieco has been in the cable industry for 30 years and has spent time in many different roles within Comcast. Joe has held the position of the Regional Comcast University Director for the Keystone Region based in Pittsburgh, PA. He has held various positions within the organization. His experience has been working as a Technical Operations Manager, Dispatch Operations Manager and Business Operations. In 2006, Joe moved into the Learning and Development area of Comcast University. Joe has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Chad Hartung

CommTech 4, Installation & Service Technical Operations

Chad has been in the communications industry for over twenty years. He worked for Dish Network as an installer before joining AT&T in 2001 at the Corliss location in Pittsburgh, PA before its acquisition by Comcast and has worked in several offices since then currently a Com.Tech. 4 in the Greensburg, PA office. Throughout his career Chad has served on several committees including the safety committee. He started a tech tip program in the South Hills office which helped find fixes to issues Techs ran into in the field. Chad has always looked for ways to educate himself on all things cable which lead him to SCTE. 

Chad has been a member of the Penn Ohio chapter since 2014 and served as an Associate Board member for the past year. Attending the training sessions and utilizing the training's and certification opportunities has helped him gain a greater knowledge of the cable industry. He has been actively promoting SCTE to other Technicians to share its wealth of information. 

His time with SCTE has given him the desire to serve others and share the many opportunities offered by SCTE, especially through the Penn Ohio chapter

Larry Jump

Larry graduated from the US Navy’s advanced electronic program and started in the CATV industry in 1974 with ATC in Albany, NY.  He eventually worked my way up to Engineer and wound up in the Pittsburgh area working for Eastern Telecom in Plum, PA. While at Eastern Telecom, earning a BCE certification in 1995.  When Eastern Telecom was acquired, I went to work for C-COR in State College and then Hewlett Packard in 1997. Since then he has worked for test equipment manufacturers and is currently retired from Viavi Solutions.  Since 1995 he has maintained a BCE certification and earned Emeritus status. Larry speaks regularly at SCTE meetings across the nation on many topics. Many of his presentations can be found on the web and I have co-authored a published white paper on 8 equalization. Larry as has been a board member of Penn Ohio chapter for the past several years.

Royd Miller

Engineer III on the Video Engineering team at Comcast Cable in the Northeast Division

Formerly an Access Bandwidth Manager and Headend Technician, Royd Miller is currently an Engineer III on the Video Engineering team at Comcast Cable in the Northeast Division. Royd is a Retired Army Special Operations Communicator and Combat Veteran who has more than thirty years’ experience in the industry.

Royd is the current Chapter President for the Penn-Ohio SCTE•ISBE Chapter and has served as an advisory board member for the Forbes Road CTC, mentoring youth in communications technology working to create a greater awareness of today’s industry in the education system. Royd holds an Associates of Arts Degree in Communications Business Management and holds technical certifications and certificates in Telephony, High Speed Data and Video lines of Business.

Royd has been an SCTE•ISBE Member for the past fourteen years, is a member of the Loyal Order of the 704, The Greater Pittsburgh Women In Cable Television (WICT) Chapter, a Charter Member of the Long Range Reconnaissance Association (LRRA,) Lifetime Member of the 82nd Airborne Division Association and former Advisory Committee Board Member at Forbes Road CTC.

John Montross

Penn-Ohio BOD

John has held the position of Regional VP Engineering, Comcast Cable, Keystone Region, and currently holds the Web Master position on the SCTE Penn-Ohio Chapter. 

 

John has years of experience in the industry and diverse studies in Telecommunications Technology and Electrical Engineering Technology at Penn State University and Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Mike O'Dell

Comcast Director Network Maintenance

Mike is a 23 year veteran of the cable television industry. Starting as an Install Technician with TCI Cablevision of Ohio, Mike has worked in many parts of the Field Operations with TCI Cablevision, Time Warner, AT&T Broadband, and Comcast.

Mike now works in Comcast’s corporate office in Philadelphia, specializing in Field Engineering and Preventative Maintenance process, tools and technology. Mike currently supports field operations across Comcast’s National footprint to ensure the highest quality technical experience and fundamental engineering practices.

Mike is the President of the Penn Ohio Chapter, located in Pittsburgh, PA, and is also a member of the SCTE Interface Practices Subcommittee (IPS), Chapter Support Committee, and a graduate of the SCTE Leadership Institute at Ga. Tech’s Sheller College of Business.

Mike has been a member of SCTE since 2005, and has been an active participant in the SCTE Cable Tech games, and recently as Chair of the Cable-Tec Games Committee.

Outside the office, Mike and Carole, his wife of 27 years, enjoy spending time with their four children, on their small farm in Northeast Ohio.

Curtis Patrick

Technical Support Manager, Armstrong Group of Companies

Curtis is currently the Technical Support Manager at Armstrong in Butler, PA. Prior to joining Armstrong, Curtis served 8 years in the U.S. Air Force as an Electrical and Environmental Systems Specialist in the B2 Program. He joined Armstrong in 2002 as a Premise Technician as has held several positions over the years as System Technician, Lead Technician and Operations Manager. In his current role, he manages Armstrong’s Network Operations Center, Commercial Network Operations Center and Centralized Dispatch. Curtis has been a certified SCTE ISBE member for 15 years, and is also a certified Senior Master Technician with NCTI.

Robert Stamm

Armstrong’s OSP Construction Operations Manager

Bob has made a career in the CATV industry with over 36 years of experience holding various

positions during his tenure. Since joining Armstrong in 1983, Bob has held positions including draftsman, network designer, design specialist, project engineer, and operations manager. In 2019, Bob took on a new role as Armstrong’s OSP Construction Operations Manager. In this role,

Bob is responsible for managing the large construction initiatives that Armstrong has committed to

complete, specifically Armstrong’s Network of the Future fiber rebuild.

Bob has served on the Penn-Ohio Chapter SCTE board since 2010 and currently holds the

position of Vice President. Bob’s education includes an AAS in Architectural Drafting and Design,

AAS in Electronic Technology, BS in Human Resources, and an MS in Organizational Leadership.

Bob and his wife Colleen reside in Butler, PA and have four grown children.

Peter Stanley

Penn-Ohio BOD

Peter J Stanley is a 41-year veteran of the cable industry. He began his career with Centre Video in the South Hills office and has held various positions throughout the years. Tech, lead tech, Tech Ops supervisor, Maintenance supervisor and Service Manager for switched telephony. Pete Managed FCC compliance for the Three Rivers/Keystone Region, POP Compliance, 320, AFN, 325 etc.

Pete approved all node certification for our Comcast CDV telephony product and spent over 12 years as the Capacity manager for high speed data, video on demand and capacity related node splits. This involved new CMTs, QAM and service group adds as well as field augments to ensure speeds and video viewing are best in class. Pete is presently part of the evolving SIT (deployment) team for Comcast Division Shared Services.

Pete has been an SCTE member since 2003, served as an associate board member since 2016 and presently a chapter secretary. When asked how he provides value to the chapter Pete said “As a board member i offer my insight on chapter membership’s behalf as well as first hand insights to the workings of the board and the amazing time and effort needed to provide what I believe are fantastic learning opportunities to our membership.” 

SCTE membership over the years has given Pete the opportunity to expand his knowledge and skills, not only for himself but to mentor others, giving them the tools to advance their standing in the industry.

Pete is a consummate professional who’s 41 years of Industry knowledge is invaluable and rarely matched by others. It is an honor to have Pete as a chapter leader and we look forward too many more years of service.
